Support for parents and carers

Being a parent can be very rewarding, but it can also be challenging.

In Sheffield, there are services that offer:

  • Advice for families

  • Activities for children and young people

  • Practical support to help with everyday life

These services can help families feel supported and connected.

What you can do:

  • Get general family support – Learn about council services that support children and families.
  • Join parenting programmes – Take part in seminars, discussion groups and parenting courses to help with children’s sleep, behaviour, and relationships.
  • Visit a Family Hub – Access support for children aged 0–19 (or up to 25 with SEND) at one of Sheffield’s seven Family Hubs.
  • Find specialist advice – Get information on:
    • Children’s mental health (coping with anxiety, exam stress, emotions)
    • Family and couple relationships (support for parents whether together or separated)
    • Supporting young people with sexuality and gender identity
