How do you travel by bus in Sheffield?

There are two different bus interchanges in Sheffield, that will help you to reach every part of the city and its suburbs.

The first of which is located on Pond street, which is situated just behind the Sheffield Hallam University city campus and is just a two minute walk from Sheffield train station.

The other bus interchange in Sheffield is located on Arundel Gate. This is located closely to the other interchange, and can be found just behind the Crucible Theatre.

Buss Passes

There is also a TravelMaster scheme in which bus users can buy 1 day passes, 7 day passes and 28 day passes, which are eligible to use on any local bus service within the Sheffield TravelMaster zone.

If purchasing these tickets in advance, they are available online and at ticket vending machines at both of the bus interchanges in Sheffield city centre.

Sheffield has an extensive tram network that will allow you to navigate around the city centre, the city’s suburbs, and also to nearby Rotherham.

There are 4 different routes that will help you to get around Sheffield by tram.

Blue Route –

Halfway – Gleadless Townend – City Centre – Hillsborough – Malin Bridge

Runs around every 15 minutes during the daytime Monday to Saturday.
Every 20 minutes early morning
Every 30 minutes after 7pm
On Sundays the blue route will run approximately every 30 minutes

Yellow Route –

Meadowhall – Attercliffe – City Centre – Hillsborough – Middlewood

Runs around every 15 minutes during the daytime Monday to Saturday.

The purple route trams are unchanged, with them running every 30 minutes every day.

The tram-train route operates two services every hour.

Sheffield train station is located just behind the Sheffield Hallam university’s city campus, and about 2 minutes away from the Pond Street bus interchange.

Sheffield’s local train network is controlled by Northern. There are regular trains running every day to local stations including Meadowhall, Heeley and Dore & Totley. There are also regular trains to other South Yorkshire towns such as Doncaster and Rotherham. There are also direct trains to many major cities including Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Nottingham.
