Parks and Outdoor Places

Sheffield has many beautiful outdoor places. You can enjoy nature, relax, or spend time with family and friends. Many places are free to visit.

There are more green spaces to explore on the Welcome to Sheffield website and on the Learn for Life website.

The Peak District is very close to Sheffield. You can:

  • Walk or hike

The Botanical Gardens has many plants, flowers, and trees. There are also glasshouses with plants from around the world. It is a quiet, peaceful place to relax.

The gardens are Grade II listed botanical gardens situated off Ecclesall Road in Sheffield, England, with 5,000 species of plants in 19 acres of land.

The Winter Garden is one of the largest temperate glasshouses to be built in the UK during the last hundred years. It has created a stunning green world in the heart of the city with more than 2,500 plants from around the world creating a superb display.
It is free and a good place to sit, walk, or enjoy nature indoors.

The Peace Gardens is an award winning public space situated along Pinstone Street, near the Winter Garden and within walking distance of the Millennium Galleries. There are water fountains, green areas, and plenty of seating. It is a popular place to meet friends or relax during the day.

Sheffield has many parks you can visit, including:

  • Weston Park

  • Endcliffe Park

  • Graves Park

These parks are good for walking, children’s play areas, picnics, and enjoying the outdoors.

The Rivelin Valley Nature Trail is a nature and heritage trail that stretches two and a half miles, linking Sheffield to the Peak District National Park.

Founded in 1981, Heeley City Farm is a community-focused urban farm, charity, and visitor attraction right in the heart of Sheffield.
