Sheffield has a significant Muslim population, with Sunni and Shia communities well-represented. The city has several mosques and Islamic centres that cater to religious, educational, and social needs.

The Centre runs courses both online and in person in Sheffield.  There are many guided meditations on their website, as well as videos of mindful movement, and explanations of mindfulness and meditation.  All these are free to use and download.

When visiting religious and spiritual communities in Sheffield, it is important to be respectful of their beliefs and practices. The following tips can help:

  • Dress modestly: Wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. In some places, such as mosques and gurdwaras, you may need to remove your shoes or cover your head.
  • Respect prayer times: Do not interrupt services or prayers. Check the schedule before visiting.
  • Ask permission: Always ask before taking photos or joining rituals.

Be respectful: You may be welcome to observe or join activities, but follow the community’s guidance and ask if you are unsure.
